University of Toronto ranked 18th on global list

The University of Toronto is a public research university in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, located on the grounds surrounding Queen’s Park. It was founded by the royal charter in 1827 as King’s College, the first institution of higher education in the colony of Upper Canada. Originally controlled by the Church of England, the university assumed the current name in 1850 by becoming a secular institution.

Likewise, academically, the University of Toronto stands out for its influential movements and curricula in literary criticism and communication theory, collectively known as the Toronto School. The university was the birthplace of insulin and stem cell research, and was the site of the first practical electronic microscope, the development of deep learning, multitouch technology, the identification of the first Cygnus X-1 black hole and the development of La NP completeness theory.

The University of Toronto rises three positions for a year

It should be noted that the University of Toronto receives the largest annual amount of scientific research funds from any Canadian university, and is one of the two members of the Association of American Universities outside the United States, the other being McGill University.

Thus, it is appropriate to mention that the University of Toronto placed 18th in a world ranking of schools, climbing three positions for a year.

The Times Higher Education World Ranking for 2020 has Oxford University as the best school in the world for the fourth consecutive year, followed by the California Institute of Technology, the University of Cambridge, Stanford University and the Institute of Massachusetts technology.

The University of Toronto became the best Canadian school in 18th place worldwide. In total, seven Canadian schools were among the top 200: the University of British Columbia (34), McGill University (42), McMaster University (72), the University of Montreal (85), the University of Alberta (136 ) and the University of Ottawa (141). )

The report examined 1,396 “research-intensive universities” in 92 countries using five metrics: teaching, research, citations, international perspective and industry results to compile a list of the 200 best schools.
