The Gray Cup is the name of both the Canadian Football League (CFL) championship game and the trophy awarded to the victorious team that plays Canadian football. It is contested among the playoff winners of the East and West Divisions of the CFL and is one of the largest annual sporting events on Canadian television. It has been held since 1909, long before the league was born in 1958.

An important fact to highlight is that for the first time it will be broadcast in Mexico in the 106th edition in 2018 including commentators in Spanish.

Its great relevance

Some people think that if you’ve never been, you’ve lost something. This being a Canadian celebration that rarely changes. In fact, places can change just like cities, players and teams. They always change. But for its part, the party in a surprising and apparent way always continues.

In more concrete opinions, Bob Irving, the Winnipeg announcer who is in his 46th Gray Cup has expressed “People have been trying to kill this league forever” and likewise expressed, “There’s no way you can We have to find new ways to get people to the stands”.

Likewise, this is forever the challenge of the Canadian soccer league. Gray Cup Week is alone as a Canadian tradition. It has this enduring quality of partial party, wild party, football game, part of the annual vacation.

Similarly, Irving, the aforementioned speaker has an anecdote about the cup. And it was that he entered the Ottawa practice facility on Thursday and star receiver Brad Sinopoli was sitting on the ground. Irving asked Sinopoli if he could interview him. After that, he has expressed, “So Sinopoli jumps up, does a four-minute interview and in the end, he thanks me. ‘I said to myself, “That’s why I love covering this. The players are real, I bet this could not happen in the NBA’ “.
