Terence Corcoran: Net-zero carbon is a big nothing — nobody has a clue how to achieve it

At least one element of the zero net carbon theory is to starve industries and create a capital flight.

It is important to mention that as the United Nations Climate Panic Summit Weekends with a large student climate party approved by the school board in Canada, the people of the world continue their lives unchanged, and the governments of the world will remain mostly with the status quo.

Certainly, not much happened. Likewise, the next UN climate event is in Chile in December, but Chile is simply a warming exaggeration for the 26th Congress of the Parties (COP26) in Glasgow 2020. That’s when the climate bureaucrats, global politicians, and CEOs will join 30,000 attendees in an attempt to renew the great goal they set in Paris in 2015: net zero carbon emissions by 2050.

Theme and mantra set

It should be noted that the two-week event in Glasgow opens on November 9, 2020, six days after the elections in the United States, which provides more reasons to doubt that the zero net carbon target will exceed the state of the policy that he now enjoys as a topic of conversation and political mantra meaningless.

Thus, it is clear that there are no “experts” to light the way to a future without carbon. It is a slogan, a bustling slogan that has no scientific or economic foundation. When the president of the USA John F. Kennedy announced in 1962 that the US they would send a man to the moon and bring him back, American scientists knew what could be done.

No one has any idea how to achieve net zero carbon emissions, by 2050 or any other horizon. In fact, Christiana Figueres, former director of the main UN climate agency, also says that “If we’re not at one-half our emissions by 2030, there’s no way they are going to be at net zero by 2050”.

The independent academic and scientific literature that supports zero net carbon, based on my attempts to track real research, is essentially zero. There are large volumes of UN-related research policies, paid hacks from the World Economic Forum, open-eyed theorists within the European Union, blue sky reports from green financial promoters and vague economic theories such as “carbon neutrality.” “The circular economy” and “natural capitalism”. While theorists observe their blue skies, the world is building more coal plants, carbon emissions are increasing, fossil fuel use continues to increase, carbon emissions per capita are increasing and the momentum for further growth is so powerful as always, especially in developing countries.
