There is a real conflict between the United States and China due to one of the largest technology companies in the world, Huawei. Therefore Canada would face a really difficult situation due to the position it could take.

In fact, according to reports, there is a possibility that US President Donald Trump may threaten to increase his stakes in the battle against the technological giant Huawei. Since Trump could sign an executive order. The purpose would be to prohibit US companies from buying Huawei technology. It should be noted that the problem could go far beyond the Huawei and 5G wireless networks to one that could transform the global technology industry. And not for the better. Being that the Chinese technology that is not only reaching the best in the world, but that is beginning to overcome it.

The level that China has reached

China is a technological competitor in development. In addition to this, it is necessary to emphasize that China is on the way to becoming not only a technological power. In fact, it is already becoming the global superstar of technology.

For his part, the director of the China Institute of the University of Alberta, Gordon Houlden, said: “As for the Chinese technological prowess, now graduate twice as many graduates than the United States of the university, but graduate five times more than STEM graduates”. To make a clarification, STEM means science, technology, engineering and mathematics, the kind of graduates that make a real difference in the race for global know-how.

However, for Canadian technology companies to confront a global technology leader who is in conflict with the United States is an unknown experience. However, at some point, Canada will have to make some crucial decisions about how it will deal with that change. And as is to be expected, their interests may not coincide with those of the United States.

Likewise, it is believed that preventing Huawei from building a new 5G wireless network will not really be harmful. Since it will not hurt the big telecommunications companies of Canada. Being that the international exchange of technology between companies is a very important point since it saves money and accelerates progress.

Some believe that the United States still has a global technological advantage in many sectors. Despite this, China is not only recovering but is moving forward. In fact, it is necessary to mention that American companies use technology invented in China and vice versa.
