Author: James Alexander Michie

After a meeting in Helsinki, "important verbal agreements" were made, according to Russian officials, who gave a series of affirmations about what the leaders of the United States, Donald Trump, and Russia, Vladimir Putin, had achieved.

According to Anatoly Antonov, Russia's ambassador to the United States, among the agreements that took place in Helsinki included the preservation of the New Start and INF agreements, which are the main bilateral arms control treaties whose future is in question. In addition to this, he affirms that Putin made compelling and interesting proposals for the United States. UU as well as what both nations could do to help in Syria.

However, on the part of the United States, it seems that the internal communication of the administration is not very good, since in the Pentagon the press officers did not respond to the concerns on the part of the media as well as in what way affect the summit to the military demonstrating inadequate information, it is also important to note that Defense Secretary Jim Mattis did not appear at the cabinet meeting with Trump and has not appeared in public this week or made any comment on what happened at the summit.

On the other hand, the current and previous officials are based that it is not unusual that it takes several days for attendees to finalize and distribute internal notes documenting high-level conversations, adding that the summit in Helsinki has been the longest meeting between both leaders since it lasted approximately two hours or a little longer than the presence of other officials or note-takers but only the presidents of EE. UU and Russia.

Meanwhile Trump exalted by his private meeting with Putin assured that it was a "Tremendous success" and tweeted the promise of "great results", likewise he gave the legislators that he and the Russian president had achieved "Significant progress to address" among other issues, while US officials have not offered more details on what has been achieved on issues beyond the so-called "Beginning of a dialogue with Russia"
