Anti-discrimination organization wants to map offenders with hate atlas

There is a defense organization that says it wants to map hatred and discrimination throughout Canada. This is through a movement that is provoking precautionary warnings from a group of civil liberties. That being the case, the anti-discrimination organization wants to map offenders with atlases of hate.

That being the case, the Morgane Oger Foundation, which is based in Vancouver, called on volunteers to help build the Canadian Atlas of Populist Extremism. This will be known as CAPE.

For his part, Morgane Oger, who is its founder, expressed that such a mapping tool would aim to unite extremist groups and people regularly associated with them, and would also map incidents involving hate throughout Canada. So, according to Oger, the idea is to shed light on how hate propagates, while keeping in mind that accusations cannot be dismissed in one way or another.

Ongoing project

Such a project could possibly include a classification system to classify incidents by gravity, giving hate-motivated killings and discriminatory graffiti as examples that would receive different ratings. In addition to this, it can be mentioned that other groups have approached similar projects. The Canadian Network Against Hate, based in Toronto, says its mandate is to monitor, investigate and counter hate groups by providing education and information to the public, the media, investigators, courts, law enforcement, and community groups.

In this way, Oger expressed that the project is in its infancy and that the foundation has not yet determined exactly what types of actions, groups or individuals will be documented, but believes that the data could be useful for academics, the police and others.

More accurately, Oger indicated, “We can not say that someone is a murderer unless he is a murderer, but perhaps it would be interesting to see that it is always the same dozen people who carry out anti-trans defense activities in the Interior (BC ) Interior or white supremacist groups are working together“.
