It is no surprise to anyone that polar bears are emblematic victims of the global warming that is melting the polar ice caps, symbols of the threat to the earth that represents our incessant energy production above all else. In this way, every day we hear about more and more demands to impose limits, to change our useless ways, to save not only the bears but also the planet and ourselves.

A destructive myth

The climatologist, Judith Curry is a true climatologist. She once headed the department of earth and atmospheric sciences at the Georgia Institute of Technology, until he surrendered at the academy to be able to express himself independently. With this, a question arises, she was asked exactly, ”Do you want to say that global warming is not real?” To which she replied, “There is a warming, but we do not really understand its causes,” she added. “Human factor and carbon dioxide, in particular, contribute to warming, but how much is the subject of intense scientific debate”.

Now, is it possible that Curry recommends passivity regarding the issue? No way. In fact, in his opinion, research must be diversified to encompass the study of the natural causes of climate change and not focus so obsessively on the human factor. Likewise, she considers that instead of wasting time on useless treaties and sterile fights, we would do better to prepare ourselves for the consequences of climate change, either by warming up or something else.
